If a dealer has an issue with their RTiPanel app not updating when a change is made to a project file, they may need to reconfigure the RTiPanel app and refresh the connection. The attached guide will show you how to accomplish this.

RTiPanel – Reconfiguring Processors

When it comes to RTiPanel, unlike other RTI Controllers, we are entirely at the mercy of both iOS and Android. As such, this means that sometimes communication between said devices and the RTI processor can be broken, disrupted or does not update properly to match any new changes made to the project file.

If a processor reboot does not solve the issue, you will need to reconfigure the device. In other words, you will be deleting the saved configuration file that is loaded onto the RTiPanel that is created in iD11 and redownloading it from the processor.

The following will provide two sets of instructions for reconfiguring. The first set of instructions can be done by an end user or a dealer that does not have access to the file. It’s the most common way of performing the process. The second is a more thorough way of reconfiguring the app you will not only be refreshing the configuration on the app itself, but you will also be refreshing the encrypted connection between the mobile device and the processor.

How to Reconfigure the RTiPanel App (Standard Method)

1. (OPTIONAL) First, navigate to the app switcher for your mobile device and fully close out the RTiPanel App and Settings App.

+ While this is an optional step, it is a recommended step as it forcibly stops the app from running and helps to clear any cache stuck in the RTiPanel & Setting Apps that could mess with the process.

Apple/iOS: Navigate to the app switcher by either double clicking the home button (if applicable) or swiping up from the bottom of the screen to the center of it. To close out any app, select the app and swipe up until it is off the page. You can exit the app switcher by tapping on any corner of the screen.

Android: Navigate to the app switcher by selecting the dedicated button for it (either on the bottom left or on the bottom right of the screen) or swiping up from the bottom of the screen to the center of it. To close out any app, select the app and swipe up until it is off the page. You can exit the app switcher by tapping on any corner of the screen.

3. When you open the app, you will be greeted with the RTiPanel’s default page and sometimes you will see the option to select your current configuration under ‘Select a System’. Do NOT select it. If just see the option to ‘Select a New System’, click that option.

3a. If you do see your current configuration in that box, select the gear in the upper right corner.

+ Select ‘Edit’ and delete your system by clicking the white ‘-’ button on the screen, deleting your configuration. Afterwards, re-add it by clicking on the ‘+’ button.

4. If your mobile device is on the same subnet as the processor, you should see it here under ‘Local Devices’, if you do not, restart both the processor and the mobile device. If it is not, you will have to add it manually (you need to ensure that there is a private tunnel set up between both subnets).

5. After you select your processor, click on the RTiPanel Configuration that was created for your mobile device. You will be brought back to the main homepage with said configuration being listed under ‘Select a System’.

6. Click on it and you should be in your configuration.

How to Reconfigure the App (Thorough Method)

Sometimes with RTiPanel devices, performing a standard reconfiguration may not be enough and such will require extra steps from the dealer to be able to reset & re-establish the connection between the mobile device and the processor.

The following will include two steps to help ensure that the processor does not have any stuck cache that would be blocking or corrupting the connection between the two devices.

1. Create a blank file and send it to the processor. A blank file is a file that contains nothing but the processor and one room (also the weather driver as that automatically gets added to the program). Essentially, it’s an empty/default file.

2. Open the original project file and reset the encryption keys. This is done in iD11. Select ‘File’, then ‘System Properties’. The option to generate new encryption keys will be under the ‘RTiPanel.

Select OK and re-send the project file to the processor.

+ Resetting the encryption keys forcibly disconnects all mobile devices from the processor and resetting all encrypted connections the processor has with any mobile devices.

3. Once both steps have been completed, perform a standard reconfiguration.
