Overview
This article walks through the process of adding, connecting, and verifying communication with an MV41V2 Multiviewer main board using Mentor and Telnet.
This procedure is typically required for configuration, diagnostics, or direct command control of the MV41V2 via a CBOX.
Prerequisites
Before starting, ensure the following:
Mentor is accessible via a supported web browser
You know the HIP (Host IP Address) of the MV41V2 (displayed on the front panel)
The MV41V2 HIP is on the same subnet as the CBOX AV port
A Telnet client is installed (e.g., PuTTY)
Network connectivity between the CBOX and MV41V2 is verified
Procedure
Step 1. Wiring
Connect all 5x RJ45 ports on the MV41V2 to an AV network switch within the MXnet ecosystem.
Connect the 12V/5A PSU to power the MV41V2.
Step 2: Setup the MV41V2 via Front Panel
Once the MV41V2 powers on wake up the front panel by pressing any button.
From the front panel of the MV41V2, navigate to the Network page.
Configure the following:
DHCP
Set to on if a DHCP server is setup on the AV network. If it is on, you should see the MV41V2 grab an IP Address.
Set to off if a DHCP server is not expected to be setup on the AV Network.
HIP: Configure the HIP to be within the subnet of the MXnet ecosystem.
If the CBOX's AV port and the MXnet encoders and decoders are configured for link local then you will need to set the HIP to a 169.254.X.X address within the /16 subnet (255.255.0.0) that is not being used the by CBOX or an MXnet endpoint.
If the CBOX's AV port and the MXnet encoders and decoders are configured for static, then you will need to set the HIP with an IP Address within the subnet configured for the MXnet CBOX and endpoints.
Mask: The subnet mask must be configured to match what is setup for the MXnet CBOX's AV port and the MXnet endpoints.
RIP: Configure to be the first IP Address within a subnet (ex: 169.254.0.1)
After making changes in the MV41V2 front panel, power must be reset to apply/save network settings. To do so, remove the 12V/5A PSU and reconnect
Step 3: Add & Connect Multiviewer
Launch Mentor in a browser
Click on the VIDEO WALL MULTIVIEW page on the toolbar in Mentor
Click on the MULTIVIEW tab
Press the ADD DEVICE button
Type in the HIP (Host IP Address) of the MV41V2 found on the front panel of the MV41V2.
Press the Add button
Type in the HIP Address of the MV41V2 in the Device IP Address text box and press Add
Step 4: Select MV41V2 to Connect
Select the MV41V2's HIP address that was added to the MULTIVIEW list on the MULTIVIEW page
Press the SELECT button
Step 5: Connect via Telnet and Collect TCP Port via MV41V2 List
Use PuTTY or any other telnet application
Connect using port 24
Send the command: config get mv41list
Observe and note if your MV41V2 is connected
Note the TCP port assigned to the MV41V2
